JioMart: The Amazon and Flipkart Rival Is Here

Soon after Facebook disclosed that it will invest $5.7 billion (Rs. 43,574 crores approx) in Reliance Jio's digital assets it was speculated that Reliance Retail will leverage the WhatsApp platform to scale its retail business. JioMart, an e-commerce venture of Reliance Retail has recently started its service in three areas i.e. Navi-Mumbai, Thane, and  Kalyan.

It can be considered as a pilot program until the nationwide rollout begins. WhatsApp has 400 million active users in India and it is planning to rollout the UPI payment service soon. This will help Reliance to take advantage of the Facebook deal and scale its business easily.

It will change how small businesses connect with customers and will provide an easier way to take local shops online. The JioMart website is already live and interested users can pre-register. Customers need to add JioMart's WhatsApp number 8850008000 on their phones and then they will be provided with a link to place the order. The order will be shared with the grocery store once the order is placed. Order details will be provided to customers via WhatsApp on his/her registered number.

It looks Reliance is serious about the e-commerce market that is expected to grow by $200 billion by the year 2027. Till next time stay safe stay connected and stay updated.
